Primecap Exceeds 5% Threshold In Shutterfly, 3 Other Companies

A well-known investment manager boosted its passive stake in three Internet-related concerns and a drug company Tuesday, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Primecap Management Co. filed SC 13G forms on the stock purchases. Such filings are required when passive investment stakes exceed 5 percent of a company's equity.

According to the filings, Primecap now holds a 5.08 percent stake in NetApp Inc. NTAP, an 11.9 percent stake in Shutterfly, Inc. SFLY and a 12.3 percent stake in NeuStar Inc NSR.

Primecap also acquired a 12.04 percent stake in the development-stage drug company Epizyme Inc EPZM, according to filings.

Shares of the four companies appeared little changed by the news.

Primecap, established in 1983, has a turnover ratio of 5 percent, holding stocks for an average of 20 years, according to a profile last year in Kiplinger.com.

Primecap is the investment advisor for three Primecap Odyssey Funds and manages equity portfolios for the Vanguard Group.
