US stock futures traded higher in early pre-market trade. The Empire State manufacturing index for December will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET, while industrial production data for November will be released at 9:15 a.m. ET. The NAHB housing market index for December will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 110 points to 17,301.00, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 14.10 points to 2,004.50. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index climbed 32.25 points to 4,218.00.
A Peek Into Global Markets
European markets were higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index rising 0.74%, STOXX Europe 600 Index gaining 0.30%. German DAX 30 index climbed 0.31%, French CAC 40 Index rose 0.51% and London's FTSE 100 Index rose 0.36%. In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average fell 1.57%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index tumbled 0.95%, China's Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.52% and India's Sensex slipped 0.11%.
