Camtek Surges Amid 3D Printing Beta Success For PCBs

Camtek LTD. CAMT shares surged 10 percent in pre-market trading Tuesday after the company announced that its "3D Functional InkJet Technology system for [Printed Circuit Board (PCB)] solder mask applications, known as Gryphon, successfully completed a beta testing phase at Eltek Ltd.'s site in Israel."

According to Camtek, the “Gryphon functional inkjet system digitalizes the material deposition on 3D surfaces and completely replaces conventional coating, drying, exposure and development processes currently used in PCB manufacturing.

“Gryphon innovative technology uses image acquisition to map the board and its topography, generate the coating layers and compare to the real image while enabling real time alignment. Sending the new image, based on the acquisition and alignment, to the print heads.

“The print heads are moving along the board filling the valleys and the pre-defined solder mask areas in layers according to the board topography.

“Once covered with solder mask, legend titles can be printed for a complete, digital, one-stop process.”

Camtek recently traded at $3.17, up 5.3 percent.
