Report: Facebook At Work Will Launch In January

Facebook Inc's FB new social networking site dubbed Facebook at Work could be launched as soon as January, according to Daily Mail.

Facebook at Work will allow users to chat with colleagues, recruit with other professionals and collaborate over work-related documents.

Daily Mail is reporting that Facebook at Work will launch without advertisements and will compete directly against LinkedIn Corp LNKD as well as Google Inc's GOOG Drive and Microsoft Corporation's MSFT OneDrive.

The publication also states that Facebook staff members are testing a beta version while a "select number of users" will be given access to the site after the Holidays.

The site is expected to resemble Facebook with its signature blue and white design along with the familiar news feed and group pages.

Facebook's 1.35 billion monthly active user base gives the company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg plenty of options to create new standalone apps and sites.

The executive stated during the company's most recent quarterly conference call that the company will "continue preparing for the future by investing aggressively, connecting everyone, understanding the world, and building the next-generation in computing platforms."
