BMO analyst Joel Jackson suggested Thursday that the troubled Uralkali Solikamsk-2 mine may already be lost, according to Bloomberg.

The mine was recently shut down as it developed a sink hole.  According to Jackson, electricity and the air supply to the mine have now been turned off.

The news pushed several fertilizer stocks higher in recent days.

Potash Corp./Saskatchewan (USA) POT has surged over 10 percent since Tuesday amid the news and recently traded at $36.35.
