Shares of Garmin Ltd.

rose steadily Wednesday and ended just off the highs, on unconfirmed market chatter the company could be a takeover target of Honeywell International Inc.

. The price mentioned was $70.00 per share. Spokespersons for Garmin and Honeywell did not respond to requests for comment. Citigroup commented later that Garmin is an unlikely takeover target. Garmin shares gained 4.5% Wednesday, to close at $59.19.

Oplink Communications, Inc.

and Koch Industries, Inc., announced Wednesday, that they have agreed that Koch Industries subsidiary, Koch Optics, Inc., will acquire Oplink for approximately $445 million in cash. Koch Optics will commence a tender offer and subsequent merger for all of the outstanding shares of Oplink common stock for $24.25 per share. The deal is not conditioned on financing. Oplink closed Wednesday at $24.18, a gain of almost 14%.

French seismic oil and gas services group CGG GEPH.PA is considering putting itself up for sale after rebuffing an offer from Technip TECF.PA, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday. CGG had initially rejected an offer from French oil services group Technip as too low, although talks were still ongoing, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The companies were not immediately available for comment. CGG closed Wednesday at $10.55, a gain of more than 22% on 10 times average volume.
