Ecolab Opens Doors Of New Manufacturing Facility In Singapore

Nalco Champion, an Ecolab company, has opened a new manufacturing plant on Jurong Island, Singapore. The new 106,000-square-meter site will supply chemistry solutions for oil and gas companies in the Eastern Hemisphere, helping to increase delivery speeds to customers. “This new site provides us with an important competitive advantage that will enhance our service to customers and promises to support continued growth for Nalco Champion,” said Steve Taylor, Ecolab executive vice president and president, Nalco Champion. “The facility features the latest production technologies to ensure consistent quality and safety performance, and will be staffed by knowledgeable and well-trained employees.” Nalco Champion is a leading provider of specialty value-added chemistry solutions and technologies that enhance productivity, decrease operating costs and conserve natural resources for upstream and downstream oil and gas companies. “The new Nalco Champion manufacturing plant is an exciting addition to Jurong Island. It reinforces Singapore's position as a leading chemicals hub, and deepens our participation in the oil and gas market through oilfield chemicals,” said Mr. Yeoh Keat Chuan, managing director, Singapore Economic Development Board. “With activities spanning manufacturing, headquarter services and innovation in Singapore, Nalco Champion provides diverse job opportunities for Singaporeans. The variety of career progression paths is well-aligned with the skills profile and aspirations of Singaporeans.” Construction of the facility, which totaled approximately three million man-hours, was completed with zero injuries. Earlier this year, Nalco Champion and Jacobs Engineering, which led construction of the site, jointly won a Workplace Safety and Health award from the Ministry of Manpower Singapore; the award recognizes companies and individuals for their commitment and outstanding performance in workplace health and safety. “The site was built with the future in mind and the infrastructure to expand – it's a prime example of a great design and is a premier production facility in a strategic location to support our growing business,” said Alex Blanco, Ecolab executive vice president and chief supply chain officer.
