Tecogen Inc.
TGEN today announced the shipment of six TECOCHILL® natural gas air-cooled chillers to the New York Container Terminal (NYCT) facility in Staten Island, New York. The TECOCHILL units are expected to cut electric demand for the facility by as much as 300kW.
Tecogen's chillers will allow the NYCT facility to produce the refrigeration needed for a 66,400 sq. ft. climate controlled warehouse for temperature sensitive cargo.
"Cutting our energy consumption and costs is a win-win for NYCT and the Staten Island community," said Thomas Fallon, NYCT's Vice President of Maintenance & Repair Services. "The TECOCHILL units are also environmentally friendly and our purchase of the units aligns NYCT's goals with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's Environmental Initiatives."
"Tecogen's natural gas-powered systems provide customers with a hedge against rising electricity costs," said Robert Panora, President and COO of Tecogen. "With plentiful supplies of more environmentally friendly natural gas keeping energy prices steady, customers with power hungry applications can more easily predict energy costs."
