today announced the appointment of Timothy R. Patten as regional president for the Company's Northeast region. Patten, who brings more than 30 years of healthcare management experience to the position, will have operational responsibilities for 17 hospitals in Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. "We are pleased to welcome Tim as HealthSouth's new Northeast regional president," said HealthSouth Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Tarr. "He is a talented healthcare professional with an impressive track record of performance and accomplishments. I am confident that Tim's leadership style and broad experience is what is needed to uphold the quality and operational excellence that our hospitals continually strive for." "I am very excited to have the opportunity to join HealthSouth and be a part of an organization that plays such an important role in the delivery of quality inpatient rehabilitation services and care to many patients across the country," said Patten. Since 2010, Patten served as regional vice president of operations for a privately-owned post-acute healthcare provider focused on long term acute care (LTAC) hospitals, inpatient medical rehabilitation hospitals (IRFs) and outpatient physical rehabilitation centers. While there, he was responsible for strategic direction, operating performance, quality outcomes and regulatory compliance for nine hospitals in five states. Prior to that, he served in various leadership positions with other post-acute and acute care providers. Patten began his career at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital where he served as vice president of operations and business development. Patten graduated from Andrew's University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, with a bachelor's degree in business administration and master's degree in business administration with a concentration in healthcare management.
