UPDATE: Opko Announces Received Patent from US PTO for Rayaldee, Says On Schedule for NDA Filing During Q1'15

, a multinational biopharmaceutical and diagnostics company, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted OPKO a patent covering RAYALDEE™, the Company's product to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) in patients with stage 3 or 4 chronic kidney disease (CKD) and vitamin D insufficiency. The new patent (US Pat. No. 8,778,373) provides OPKO with additional intellectual property protection covering controlled release administration of a vitamin D compound. OPKO is on schedule to announce top-line results from the first pivotal phase 3 trial for RAYALDEE in the third quarter of 2014 and file a New Drug Application (NDA) with the FDA in the first quarter of 2015.
