Costco Posts Upbeat June Same-Store Sales

reported a 6% gain in its June same-store sales. International sales rose 7%, while US sales gained 6% in the five weeks ended July 6, 2014. Analysts were expecting total same-store sales to rise 5.4%. Excluding a positive impact of gasoline prices and a negative effect of foreign currencies, total comparable sales climbed 6%. Excluding these effects, US sales gained 6% and international same-store sales climbed 8%. Costco's net sales jumped 10% to $10.89 billion in June from $9.91 billion. Costco shares gained 0.39% to close at $117.92 yesterday.
