Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ: COST) reported upbeat same-store sales for January.

Costco's sales at stores open at least a year climbed 4% in January. However, analysts were estimating same-store sales to climbed 3.3% in January. Excluding the negative impact of foreign currency and gasoline prices, Costco's same-store sales increased 6% in the month.

Costco's net sales jumped 6% to $7.99 billion in January.

Costco shares fell 0.01% to $110.50 in pre-market trading.
