Synergetics Appoints Robert H. Blankemeyer to Its Board of Directors

announced today that Robert H. Blankemeyer has been elected to the Synergetics Board of Directors, effective September 23, 2013. Mr. Blankemeyer, Bob, is an accomplished medical device industry executive with significant leadership experience. Bob retired in 2011 after 11 years at Medtronic, where he was a Senior Vice President and the President of Medical Surgical Technologies Sector. He has also served as President of the Ear, Nose & Throat and Neurologic Technologies business units of Medtronic Xomed from April 2000 until its merger into Surgical Technologies in 2008. Bob has also served on the Medtronic executive committee, operating committee and venture board and corporate management incentive plan committees. Prior to joining Medtronic, Mr. Blankemeyer spent 22 years in the field of ophthalmology with Storz Ophthalmics, Inc. having held senior positions in global sales and marketing management, as well as Chief Operating Officer and President. Storz was a subsidiary of American Home Products and American Cyanamid, where he was a member of the President Council. Mr. Blankemeyer has been a Director of BioHorizons, Inc. since July 26, 2011 and of Blue Belt Technologies, Inc. since February 14, 2012.
