US stock futures surged in early pre-market trade, ahead of industrial production data. The Empire State manufacturing index for September will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET., while industrial production data for August will be released at 9:15 a.m. ET. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 166 points to 15,477.00, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 18.50 points to 1,700.50. Futures for the Nasdaq 100 index gained 33 points to 3,204.50.
A Peek Into Global Markets
European markets were higher today, with the Spanish Ibex Index rising 0.67%, London's FTSE 100 index gaining 0.76% and STOXX Europe 600 Index surging 0.73%. German DAX 30 index surged 1.18% and French CAC 40 Index rose 0.84%. Asian markets ended mostly higher today. China's Shanghai Composite fell 0.22%, Australia's ASX/S&P500 gained 0.52%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index jumped 1.47% and India's Sensex rose 0.05%.
