today announced that it has commenced an underwritten public offering of up to 5,500,000 shares of its common stock. All of the shares in the offering are to be sold by The Medicines Company. J.P. Morgan Securities LLC and BofA Merrill Lynch are acting as joint book-running managers, and representatives of the underwriters for the offering. Leerink Swann LLC is also acting as a joint book-running manager. The Medicines Company intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 825,000 shares of its common stock. The offering is subject to market conditions which may delay or prevent the offering from being completed, or impact the actual size or terms of the offering.
