US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting consumer sentiment data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 27 points to 15,457.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 4.50 points to 1,679.50. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 7.75 points to 3,042.25.

US stocks closed mostly higher on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.09% to 15,555.61, the S&P 500 index gaining 0.26% to 1,690.25 and the Nasdaq 100 index surging 0.71% to 3,605.19.

The Reuter's/University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index for July will be released at 9:55 a.m. ET.

Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) reported better-than-expected third-quarter results and raised its full-year earnings forecast.

Zynga (NASDAQ: ZNGA) issued a weak outlook for the current quarter. However, the company reported upbeat Q2 results.

Expedia (NASDAQ: EXPE) reported downbeat second-quarter results.

Newell Rubbermaid (NYSE: NWL) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.49 per share on revenue of $1.47 billion. AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV) is expected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.79 per share on revenue of $4.54 billion. Aon plc (NYSE: AON) is estimated to report its Q2 earnings at $1.11 per share on revenue of $2.91 billion.

Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE: SWK) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $1.19 per share on revenue of $2.81 billion. LyondellBasell Industries NV (NYSE: LYB) is estimated to report its Q2 earnings at $1.62 per share on revenue of $11.30 billion. WABCO Holdings (NYSE: WBC) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $1.25 per share on revenue of $672.76 million. Tyco International (NYSE: TYC) is expected to post its Q3 earnings at $0.48 per share on revenue of $2.71 billion.

Helmerich & Payne (NYSE: HP) is expected to report its Q3 earnings at $1.34 per share on revenue of $844.15 million. Weyerhaeuser Co (NYSE: WY) is estimated to report its Q2 earnings at $0.30 per share on revenue of $2.04 billion. Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co LP (NYSE: KKR) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.26 per share on revenue of $239.82 million.

European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index tumbled 0.82%, London's FTSE 100 index gained 0.03%, French CAC 40 Index surged 0.68% and German DAX 30 index fell 0.11%.

Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average falling 2.97%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 0.51% and Australia's ASX/S&P500 rising 0.11%. Hong Kong's Heng Seng Index gained 0.31% and India's Sensex tumbled 0.24%.
