US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting economic data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 136 points to 15,184.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 18.30 points to 1,637.30. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 32.50 points to 2,968.50.

US stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.52% to 15,307.17, the S&P 500 index falling 0.83% to 1,655.35 and the Nasdaq 100 index declining 1.11% to 3,463.30.

Data on weekly jobless claims will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET, while the Markit PMI manufacturing index (flash) for May will be released at 8:58 a.m. ET. The FHFA purchase only house price index for March will be released at 9:00 a.m. ET, while the Bloomberg Consumer Comfort Index will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET. Data on new home sales for April will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET, while the EIA weekly report on natural gas stocks will be released at 10:30 a.m. ET. The Kansas City Fed manufacturing index for May will be released at 11:00 a.m. ET, while data on money supply will be released at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Hewlett-Packard Co (NYSE: HPQ) posted upbeat fiscal second-quarter earnings.

Advance Auto Parts (NYSE: AAP) is expected to report its Q1 earnings at $1.62 per share on revenue of $2.01 billion. Dollar Tree (NASDAQ: DLTR) is projected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.57 per share on revenue of $1.87 billion. Bon-Ton Stores (NASDAQ: BONT) is estimated to post a Q1 loss at $1.57 per share on revenue of $665.23 million. GameStop (NYSE: GME) is expected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.40 per share on revenue of $1.84 billion.

Hormel Foods (NYSE: HRL) is estimated to report its Q2 earnings at $0.49 per share on revenue of $2.19 billion. Sears Holdings (NASDAQ: SHLD) is projected to post a Q1 loss at $0.60 per share on revenue of $8.37 billion. Ross Stores (NASDAQ: ROST) is estimated to report its Q1 earnings at $1.07 per share on revenue of $2.52 billion. Aeropostale (NYSE: ARO) is expected to post a Q1 loss at $0.17 per share on revenue of $444.26 million.

salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) is expected to post its Q1 earnings at $0.10 per share on revenue of $887.08 million. The Gap (NYSE: GPS) is expected to post its Q1 earnings at $0.69 per share on revenue of $3.68 billion. The Buckle (NYSE: BKE) is expected to report its Q1 earnings at $0.82 per share on revenue of $272.48 million. Ralph Lauren (NYSE: RL) is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.30 per share on revenue of $1.70 billion.

European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 2.14%, London's FTSE 100 index dropped 1.97%, French CAC 40 Index declined 2.47% and German DAX 30 index fell 2.72%.

Asian markets ended lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average tumbling 7.32%, China's Shanghai Composite falling 1.16% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index dropping 1.97%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 2.54% and India's Sensex dropped 1.82%.
