According to
Quartz, Hewlett-Packard
HPQ is considering splitting up the company. Quartz cites sources close to the company's board.
Shares of H-P rallied more than six percent in after-hours trading Tuesday.
Such a notion has floated around the market for quite some time; in fact, H-P itself announced that it would spinoff its PC business in the fall of 2011. However, after then-CEO Leo Apotheker was relieved of his position, new CEO Meg Whitman reversed the move, instead keeping H-P together.
Its interesting that this news comes right on the heels of Dell's
DELL decision to take the company private in a LBO deal.
