US Stock Futures Up Ahead Of Retail Sales Data
US stock futures are higher this morning, after upbeat results from Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO). Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 53 points to 12,770.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 6.70 points to 1,377.60. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 17.75 points to 2,578.25.
US stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.46% to 12,756.18, the S&P 500 index falling 0.40% to 1,374.53 and the Nasdaq 100 index declining 0.70% to 2,883.89.
Data on October retail sales and the October Producer Price Index will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The minutes of the latest FOMC meeting will be released at 2 p.m. ET.
Abercrombie & Fitch Co (NYSE: ANF) is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.59 per share on revenue of $1.11 billion. NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.48 on revenue of $1.54 billion.
Staples (NASDAQ: SPLS) is expected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.45 per share on revenue of $6.46 billion. Tyco International Ltd (NYSE: TYC) is estimated to report its Q3 EPS at $0.35 on revenue of $2.72 billion.
PetSmart (NASDAQ: PETM) is expected to post its Q3 EPS at $0.63 on revenue of $1.62 billion. Williams-Sonoma (NYSE: WSM) is estimated to post its Q3 EPS at $0.45 on revenue of $921.80 million. Limited Brands (NYSE: LTD) is expected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.24 on revenue of $2.05 billion.
Cisco Systems reported upbeat fiscal first-quarter results.
Toyota Motor (NYSE: TM) announced its plans to recall around 2.77 million cars worldwide.
The Mosaic Co (NYSE: MOS) cut its Q2 production forecast.
European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index dropped 0.37%, London's FTSE 100 Index fell 0.52%, French CAC 40 Index declined 0.24% and German DAX 30 index dropped 0.06%.
Asian markets ended higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average gaining 0.04%, China's Shanghai Composite rising 0.37% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gaining 0.15%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index surged 1.20%.
Crude oil for December delivery rose $0.38 to trade at $85.76 a barrel on Globex.
The ICE dollar index (DXY) dropped 0.15% to trade at 80.99, versus 81.097 in late North American trade Tuesday.
