China Unicom to Reduce Subsidy on iPhone 5 -Marbridge
China Unicom (NYSE: CHU) will reportedly reduce calling subsidies and increase data limits on related calling plans for Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhone 5 (16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models) compared with the iPhone 4S, according to Marbridge.
China Telecom (NYSE: CHA) Chairman Wang Xiaochu said his company would maintain the same subsidies in H2 2012, but it would not include the iPhone.
China Unicom and China Telecom are planning iPhone 5 launches in mid-December. Apple has confirmed the iPhone 5 launch in mainland China in December, but there has been no date announced yet.
