Tutor Perini Awarded $73 Million Contract

, a leading civil and building construction company, today announced that it has been awarded a contract to build the New Academic Building for the School of Public Health at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. The contract is valued at approximately $73 million. The New Academic Building will consist of an 8‐story, 119,000 square-foot structure, as well as 6,500 square feet of renovations. The project will include classrooms, exam rooms, universal patient rooms, debriefing rooms, offices, and laboratories. Ennead Architects, LLP is the project designer. It is estimated that the project will create more than 400 construction jobs in New York City over the next two years. Construction began in late September, with substantial completion anticipated to occur in the fourth quarter of 2014.
