Newcrest Mining Q1 Gold Output Down 22%

Newcrest Mining Ltd

reported a 22% drop in its output in the first quarter. Newcrest's gold output declined to 460,425 troy ounces, from 587,310 ounces in the prior quarter and versus 587,296 ounces in the year-ago period. Its copper output fell to 18,598 metric tons, from 20,544 tons in the previous quarter and versus 19,228 tons in the year-ago period. Newcrest Mining shares closed at $28.47 yesterday.
