US Stock Futures Down Ahead Of Wholesale Inventories Data

US stock futures are lower this morning, as investors are awaiting wholesale inventories data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 33 points to 13,379.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 2.70 points to 1,433.20. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 7 points to 2,727.00.

US stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.81% to 13,473.53, the S&P 500 index declining 0.99% to 1,441.48 and the Nasdaq 100 index falling 1.52% to 3,065.02.

Data on wholesale inventories for August will be released at 10 a.m. ET. The Fed is scheduled to release the Beige Book report at 2 p.m. ET.

Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ: COST) posted a 27% rise in its Q4 profit.

Host Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: HST) is estimated to post a Q3 loss of $0.02 per share on revenue of $1.19 billion. Helen of Troy (NASDAQ: HELE) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.85 per share on revenue of $310 million.

VOXX International (NASDAQ: VOXX) is estimated to post its Q2 EPS at $0.19 on revenue of $204.30 million. Ruby Tuesday (NYSE: RT) is expected to post its Q1 earnings at $0.06 per share on revenue of $331.52 million.

Yum! Brands (NYSE: YUM) reported a rise in its Q3 profit and raised its full-year earnings view.

Alcoa (NYSE: AA) reported its Q3 earnings, excluding charges, of $0.03 per share. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.01 per share.

European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.38%, London's FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.50%, French CAC 40 Index declined 0.39% and German DAX 30 index fell 0.38%.

Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 1.98%, China's Shanghai Composite surging 0.22% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 falling 0.32%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 0.08% and India's Sensex declined 0.85%.

Gold for December delivery fell $1 to trade at $1,764.00, while oil for November delivery declined $0.62 to $91.77 a barrel.

The dollar index (DXY) gained 0.12% to trade at 80.09.
