Japan August Current Account Surplus Surges 4.2%
Japan's current-account surplus rose 4.2% y/y in August.
The country's current-account surplus reached 454.7 billion yen ($5.8 billion) in August. However, economists were expecting a surplus of 421.1 billion yen.
The country's exports dropped 5.3%, while imports fell 5.4%, according to the Ministry of Finance. In July, Japan's current-account surplus was 625.4 billion yen.
