Costco Same-Store Sales Surge 6% In September

Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ: COST) reported a 6% rise in its September same-store sales.

Costco's total sales climbed 8% to $9.31 billion, versus $8.61 billion, in the year-ago period. However, analysts were expecting same-store sales to rise 5.7%. Excluding the impact of higher gasoline prices and foreign-currency translations, the retailer's comparable sales surged 5%.

Costco shares closed at $99.62 yesterday.
