has the scoop on major meetings that are scheduled at Yahoo
YHOO
for Tuesday, where Marissa Mayer is set to unveil her plans for turning the struggling internet company around. Swisher writes that "According to an internal memo Mayer sent out Friday, the confab is scheduled for Tuesday. It comes after two days of meetings with Yahoo's board of directors last week, in which Mayer outlined the plans she has come up with to turnaround the company." The title of the memo announcing the meetings is "Board slides, strategy and goals." There will apparently be two meetings tomorrow, one in the morning and one later in the day, "in order to accommodate Yahoo staffers internationally." Swisher reports that the memo states that "In an act of radical transparency that will be a tradition going forward," Mayer will share her "strategy and vision" with Yahoo employees. The former Google
GOOG
executive became the CEO of Yahoo in July. “We want to offer you transparency into what happens at the board level as well as guidance as to where the company is going,” Mayer told employees. The memo also noted that another meeting is scheduled for October 1, which will detail annual goals which will be tracked and graded on the company level, down through departments, teams and individuals. According to Swisher, Mayer's plan will focus on improving the consumer search experience, and a potential redo of the company's search partnership with Microsoft
MSFT
. Other areas of focus are expected to include a refresh for email and Yahoo's home page. Swisher also reports that Mayer is planning on concentrating on ten key areas of Yahoo's business, including Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Sports, and the Flickr photo-sharing service. All of the changes at the company are said to be based on making the Yahoo experience better for the user, even at the expense of the near-term bottom line. “Everything she is doing is about the consumer experience,” said a source. “Nothing else matters to her, even if it might matter to the bottom line.” The leaks out of Yahoo suggest that Mayer is leaning heavily on her experience at Google in order to reposition Yahoo. She has been credited with creating Google's simple, user-friendly interface, and it seems likely that she may add similar touches at Yahoo while focusing on improving the company's core products.
