Worst Performing Industries For September 24
At 12:25 pm, the Dow dropped 0.14% to 13,559.86, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index moved down 0.33% to 1,455.27 and the NASDAQ composite index declined 0.73% to 3,156.86.
The worst performing industries in the market today are:
Semiconductor- Memory Chips: This industry dipped 6.19% by 12:25 pm. The worst stock within the industry was Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU), which fell 3.9%. Analysts at Pacific Crest Securities downgraded Micron from “outperform” to “sector perform.”
Photographic Equipment & Supplies: This industry fell 3.02% by 12:25 pm ET. The worst performer in this industry was Canon (NYSE: CAJ), which dropped 3.05%. Canon announced the next-generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series.
Computer Peripherals: This industry moved down 2.40% by 12:25 pm, with Universal Display (NASDAQ: PANL) moving down 6.8%. Universal Display's PEG ratio is 2.73.
Nonmetallic Mineral Mining: The industry dropped 2.17% by 12:25 pm. The worst performer in this industry was Alexco Resource (AMEX: AXU), which declined 4.2%. Alexco Resource's shares have dropped 37.05% over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 25.57% in the same period.
