The board of directors of Compass Minerals

has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.495 per share payable August 31, 2012, to shareholders of record at the close of business on September 14, 2012. The company's board increased the quarterly dividend by 10 percent in February of this year to demonstrate Compass Minerals' ongoing commitment to deliver tangible value to its shareholders. This is the thirty-fifth consecutive quarter that Compass Minerals has declared a dividend since becoming public in December of 2003.
