US Stock Futures Flat Ahead of Economic Data
US stock futures are mostly flat this morning, ahead of retail-sales and other economic data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 3 points to 12,864.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 0.20 points to 1,367.80. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 0.50 points to 2,642.00.
US stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 0.56% to 12,943.82, the S&P 500 index rising 0.62% to 1,374.02 and the Nasdaq 100 index jumping 0.84% to 2,976.08.
The ADP employment report will be released at 8:15 a.m. ET. Data on weekly jobless-claims will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET, while ISM non-manufacturing data will be released at 10 a.m. ET.
Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ: COST) reported a 3% rise in its June same-store sales.
Xyratex Ltd (NASDAQ: XRTX) is estimated to post its Q2 earnings at 0.29 per share on revenue of $327.03 million.
International Speedway (NASDAQ: ISCA) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $0.40 per share on revenue of $158.65 million.
European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index rose 0.17%, London's FTSE 100 Index surged 0.27%, French CAC 40 Index gained 0.24% and German DAX 30 index rose 0.60%.
Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average falling 0.27%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 1.17% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 dropping 0.09%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 0.50%.
Gold futures for August delivery declined $4.60 to $1,617.20 an ounce.
