The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has awarded Neustar
NSR
, the current North American Numbering Plan Administrator (NANPA), a new contract for an additional five-year term as a result of a competitive bidding process administered by the FCC. The new contract will continue through 2017. As the sole provider of this critical service, Neustar will continue to meet the needs of the telecommunications industry and the consumers they serve. “Neustar is honored to have once again been selected by the FCC to serve as the NANPA. We look forward to continuing to manage this complex number system that so many telecommunications service providers and their consumers rely on. Our goal is to continue to provide our customers with the neutral and reliable services that have come to define Neustar,” said Steve Edwards, Neustar's senior vice president for Carrier Services. “Our proven track record of success is something we take seriously and it shows in our quality and reliability.” In 1997, the FCC named Neustar as the neutral administrator of the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). NANPA is responsible for the management of the integrated telephone numbering plan that serves 20 North American countries, coordinating area code relief planning and the collection of service provider utilization and forecast data.
