U.S. Army Expands Deployment of JTRS Soldier Radio Waveform with $26.7 Million Order for Upgraded Harris Corporation Falcon III Manpack Radios
Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) has received a $26.7 million order via the GSA, FAS Assisted Acquisition Services to provide the U.S. Army with upgraded Falcon III® AN/PRC-117G tactical radios and accessories that will enable the broader use and application of the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Soldier Radio Waveform.
The AN/PRC-117G is the only full-production radio certified by the NSA for Type-1 implementation of SRW on the battlefield. Developed by the JTRS program, SRW is a Department of Defense voice and data waveform standard used to extend battlefield IP networks to the tactical edge.
“This order will accelerate and broaden the deployment of SRW, which is a key component in the DoD's transition to a networked battlefield,'' said George Helm, president, Department of Defense business, Harris RF Communications. “Harris is leading the way in porting, testing, certifying and deploying SRW systems, both in the AN/PRC-117G manpack and, shortly, the AN/PRC-152A wideband handheld radio. We are committed to delivering wideband capability with the highest standards of portability and interoperability.''
