URS-Led Partnership Wins Contract to Manage the U.S. Department of Energy's Waste Isolation Pilot Plant

today announced that a URS-led partnership has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Energy to manage and operate the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant near Carlsbad, New Mexico. Under the terms of the contract, the URS-led Limited Liability Company, Nuclear Waste Partnership LLC, will manage and operate WIPP beginning on October 1, 2012. The contract, which has a five-year term, with an additional five-year option period, has a value of approximately $1.3 billion to the partnership over the full 10-year period.
