ZBB Energy Corporation
ZBB
announced today a contract from a Florida-based solar integrator to provide an integrated, continuous power ZBB EnerSystem™. This technology combines ZBB EnerStore™ flow-battery technology and ZBB EnerSection™ power and energy control capability for use in a unique application designed to operate in both grid-connected and transportable micro-grid applications at an undisclosed U.S. Military base. The installation dovetails with a multi-year project at the base to increase energy efficiency, incorporate renewables, and increase overall energy reliability and independence with respect to the availability of the civilian grid. As part of the Department of Defense's numerous goals relating to increasing renewable energy use, the National Defense Authorization Act of 2007 (NDAA07) has mandated that the Department of Defense produce or procure 25% of the total installation energy requirement from renewable sources. The Florida-based integrator was awarded a demonstration grant to deploy and trial the micro-grid system using ZBB capabilities that offer a hybridized solution to integrate the mix of renewables, diesel and energy storage. The technology will demonstrate the ability to provide a continuous power supply to local loads on the base regardless of time of day, intermittent renewables or level of stored energy, while minimizing the use of diesel fuel.
