Great Plains Energy Announces Chief Executive Officer to Retire in 2012 and Announces Succession Plan

and Kansas City Power & Light Company today announced that Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael J. Chesser has informed the Board of Directors of his decision to retire as Chief Executive Officer of Great Plains Energy and KCP&L, effective May 31, 2012. In order to ensure a smooth transition, Chesser will remain as a member of the Board of Directors and serve as its Chairman. He has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since 2003.
