Resolute Forest Products Sees 2011 EPS of $1.71 vs $1.53 Est

, today reported net income of $41 million for the year ended December 31, 2011, or $0.42 per share, on sales of $4.8 billion, compared with net income of $2.6 billion, or $27.63 per share, on sales of $4.7 billion in the year ended December 31, 2010.1 Net loss for the fourth quarter of 2011 was $6 million, or $(0.06) per share, on sales of $1.1 billion, compared with net income of $4.2 billion, or $44.82 per share, on sales of $1.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2010.1 Excluding $125 million of special items described below, net income for the full year was $166 million, or $1.71 per share. Excluding special items of $51 million, net income in the fourth quarter was $45 million, or $0.46 per share. For the full year 2010, net loss excluding special items was $831 million, or $(8.78) per share, and $235 million, or $(2.49) per share, in the fourth quarter 2010.
