Micron Tech Shares Halted After CEO Passes Away

Today, Micron Tech (NASDAQ: MU) shares are halted as the company reported the death of its CEO Steve Appleton as a result of a plane crash. The company expects to provide additional information later today.

The CEO was flying a small experimental plane when it crashed between two runaways in Boise, Idaho. Appleton had previously had one of the longest tenures of any semiconductor CEO and had mapped a turnaround strategy for Micron which involved an expansion of its mobile phone business.

The CEO had previously been involved in another plane crash in 2004.
