US Stock Futures Mixed; All Eyes On FOMC
US stock futures are mixed this morning, as investors are awaiting a decision on interest rates from the US Federal Reserve. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 41 points to 12,585.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 4.30 points to 1,307.10. Nasdaq 100 futures surged 10.25 points to 2,447.75.
US stocks closed mostly lower on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.26% to 12,675.75, the S&P 500 index declining 0.10% to 1,314.65 and the Nasdaq 100 index gaining 0.09% to 2,786.64.
Data on Federal Housing Finance Agency house prices for November and December home sales will be released at 10 a.m. ET.
Abbott Laboratories (NYSE: ABT) is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.44 per share on revenue of $10.76 billion. Owens-Illinois Inc (NYSE: OI) is projected to post its Q4 EPS at $0.47 on revenue of $1.80 billion. WellPoint Inc (NYSE: WLP) is projected to post its Q4 EPS at $1.12 on revenue of $15.41 billion.
Boeing Company (The) (NYSE: BA) is projected to post its Q4 profit at $1 per share on revenue of $19.37 billion. Netflix Inc (NASDAQ: NFLX) is expected to post its Q4 EPS at $0.55 on revenue of $857.60 million. SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK) is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $1.26 on revenue of $1.57 billion.
ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) is expected to post its Q4 EPS at $1.78 on revenue of $40.56 billion. Southern Company (The) (NYSE: SO) is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $0.30 on revenue of $4.01 billion. Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) is projected to post its Q4 EPS at $0.33 on revenue of $1.84 billion. General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE: GD) is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $1.99 on revenue of $9.29 billion.
Yahoo! Inc (NASDAQ: YHOO) reported a 5% drop in its fiscal fourth-quarter profit.
Shares of Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) surged about 7.5% in pre-market trading after the company reported upbeat quarterly results.
Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NYSE: AMD) swung to a loss of $177 million, from a year-ago profit of $375 million.
European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index dropped 0.53%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.42%, French CAC 40 index fell 0.39% and German DAX 30 index dropped 0.13%.
Asian markets ended higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 1.1196% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 1.00%. India's Sensex gained 0.48%.
The euro fell 0.46% versus the dollar to trade at $1.2977, down from $1.3026 late Tuesday. The dollar index (DXY) gained 0.43% to 80.15, from 79.853 in North America late Tuesday.
Crude-oil futures for March delivery dropped $0.69 to $98.25 a barrel. Gold futures for March delivery dropped $10.40 to $1,654.20 an ounce.
