From Earlier: Spanish Utility EMASESA Extends Contract With Elster for Electronic Water Meters

Elster (NYSE: ELT) announced today that Spanish utility company, Empresa Metropolitana de Abastecimiento y Saneamiento de Aguas de Sevilla (EMASESA) has selected Elster to supply Y290 electronic hybrid water meters over the next 12 months.

This award represents a 50 percent increase on Elster's previous tender to EMASESA in 2005 and is a direct result of the successful deployment of Y290 hybrid water meters to support the Seville-based utility over the last six years.

EMASESA provides water and wastewater services to over a million people in the city of Seville and 11 additional towns, and it also supplies raw (untreated) water to 26 towns around the Seville area.

The Y290 hybrid electronic water meter provides statistical information on consumption behaviour, customer profiles and flows. The meter is approved by the European Measuring Instruments Directive 2004/22/EC, offers a dynamic flow range up to R250 and is self-powered by an internal battery.
