US Stock Futures Up; Earnings Reports, Economic Data In Focus

US stock futures are higher this morning, as investors are awaiting earnings reports and economic data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 47 points to 12,467.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 5.20 points to 1,294.50. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 12.75 points to 2,402.50.

US stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.48% to 12,482.07, the S&P 500 index gaining 0.36% to 1,293.67 and the Nasdaq 100 index surging 0.64% to 2,728.08.

Data on December producer prices will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. However, data on December industrial production will be released at 9:15 a.m. ET and home-builder sentiment for January will be released at 10 a.m. ET.

State Street Corp (NYSE: STT) is projected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.94 per share on revenue of $2.41 billion. eBay Inc (NASDAQ: EBAY) is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $0.57 on revenue of $3.32 billion. H. B. Fuller Company (NYSE: FUL) is estimated to post its Q4 EPS at $0.59 on revenue of $416.87 million.

Charles Schwab Corp (NYSE: SCHW) is projected to post its Q4 earnings at $0.13 per share on revenue of $1.11 billion. Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: GS) is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.28 per share on revenue of $6.73 billion. PNC Financial Services Group Inc (NYSE: PNC) is projected to report its Q4 earnings at $1.37 per share on revenue of $3.52 billion.

Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (NYSE: BK) is expected to post its Q4 EPS at $0.53 on revenue of $3.75 billion. U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB) is estimated to report its Q4 earnings at $0.63 per share on revenue of $4.76 billion. Fastenal Company (NASDAQ: FAST) is expected to post its Q4 EPS at $0.30 on revenue of $694.29 million.

Cree Inc (NASDAQ: CREE) reported a 76% drop in its fiscal second-quarter profit.

Yahoo Inc (NASDAQ: YHOO) announced the resignation of the company's co-founder Jerry Yang.

European markets were mostly higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.02%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 0.08%, French CAC 40 index rose 0.42% and German DAX 30 index surged 0.47%.

Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average surging 0.9943%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 1.39% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 0.07%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.3015% and India's Sensex fell 0.09%.

The International Energy Agency cut its global oil demand growth forecast for 2012.

Crude-oil prices for February delivery gained $0.79 to $101.49.

The dollar index (DXY) fell 0.39% to 80.78, versus 81.175 late Tuesday in North American trade.
