Target Corp (NYSE: TGT) reported a 1.7% rise in its December same store sales. Analysts were expecting same-store sales to increase 3.1%. Target's total December sales rose 2.6% to $10.14 billion.

Costco Wholesale Corp (NASDAQ: COST) reported a 7% rise in its December same-store sales. Costco's total sales surged 9% y/y to $10.05 billion, versus $9.19 billion. However, analysts were expecting same-store sales to rise 7.6%.

Stage Stores Inc (NYSE: SSI) reported a 1.2% rise in its December same-store sales. Stage Stores' total sales surged 2.9% to $274 million, from $266 million. However, analysts were expecting same-store sales to rise 1%.

Walgreen Co (NYSE: WAG) reported a 0.4% rise in its December same-store sales. Analysts were expecting same-store sales to drop 0.1%. Walgreen's total December sales climbed 2.7% to $6.98 billion.

Pier 1 Imports Inc (NYSE: PIR) reported an 11.3% rise in its December comparable-store sales.

Limited Brands Inc (NYSE: LTD) reported a 7% rise in its December same-store sales. Analysts were expecting a rise of 5.7%. Limited's total sales climbed to $1.87 billion from $1.79 billion.

Gap Inc (NYSE: GPS) reported a 4% drop in its December sales at stores open at least one year. Analysts were expecting same-store sales to drop 1.3%. Gap's net sales for the five weeks ended December 31 declined 1% to $1.98 billion.

Macy's Inc (NYSE: M) reported a 6.2% rise in its December same-store sales. Analysts were expecting same-store sales to increase 5%. Macy's total sales for the five weeks ended December 31 surged 6.6% to $4.93 billion.

Fast Retailing Co (OTC: FRCOY) reported a 14.2% rise in December same-store sales at its Uniqlo casual clothing chain in Japan. Fast Retailing reported that the number of customer visits in December climbed 2.4% y/y on a same-store basis.

American Apparel Inc (AMEX: APP) reported a 12% rise in its December same-store sales. American Apparel's net sales jumped 15% y/y to $56.3 million.
