US Stock Futures Signal Mixed Start On Wall Street
US stock futures are mixed this morning, after a strong rise in the previous session. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 2 points to 12,336.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 0.80 points to 1,272.90. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 4.25 points to 2,320.25.
US stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average surging 1.47% to 12,397.38, the S&P 500 index rising 1.55% to 1,277.06 and the Nasdaq 100 index jumping 1.67% to 2,648.72.
Data on November factory orders will be released at 10 a.m. ET.
Auto manufacturers are scheduled to issue December monthly sales figures.
Mosaic Company (The) (NYSE: MOS) is projected to report its Q2 earnings at $1.31 per share. Unifirst Corporation (NYSE: UNF) is estimated to report its Q1 EPS at $1.08 on revenue of $296.70 million.
Sonic Corp (NASDAQ: SONC) is expected to post its Q1 EPS at $0.09 on revenue of $129.87 million.
Progress Software Corp (NASDAQ: PRGS) reported a 45% drop in its fourth-quarter net income and issued weaker-than-expected forecast for the current quarter.
Team Inc (NYSE: TISI) posted better-than-expected second-quarter results and lifted its full year earnings forecast.
Acme Packet Inc (NASDAQ: APKT) projects fourth-quarter total revenue of $308 million to $310 million.
European markets were mostly lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index dropped 0.23%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 0.20%, French CAC 40 index fell 0.47% and German DAX 30 index dropped 0.38%.
Asian markets ended mixed, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rising 1.2399%, China's Shanghai Composite dropping 1.37% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 2.03%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.7951% and India's Sensex dropped 0.36%.
Hungary's forint fell to an all-time low against the euro. The euro declined 0.37% versus the US dollar to trade at $1.3003. The US dollar fell 0.08% versus the Japanese yen to trade at 76.67 yen.
Nymex crude oil futures dropped $0.40 to trade at $102.77 a barrel in electronic trade.
