MAA Appoints Thomas L. Grimes, Jr. Chief Operating Officer

MAA (NYSE: MAA) announced today that Thomas L. Grimes, Jr. has been appointed Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer.  Mr. Grimes joined the company in 1994 shortly after MAA's initial public offering and has served as Executive Vice-President and Director of Property Management Operations since 2008.  In his expanded role as Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Grimes will also oversee the company's Asset Management and Human Resources functions.  Mr. Grimes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Memphis.
