US Stock Futures Up As Investors Await Key Jobs Report

US stock futures are higher this morning, ahead of data on nonfarm jobs. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 123 points to 12,126.00 and futures on the S&P 500 stock index rose 13.80 points to 1,257.40. Nasdaq 100 futures surged 26.50 points to 2,335.75.

US stocks closed mostly lower on Thursday, with the Dow Jones industrial average dropping 0.21% to 12,020.03, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index declining 0.19% to 1,244.58 and the NASDAQ composite index gaining 0.22% to 2,626.20.

Data on November nonfarm payrolls will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Big Lots (NYSE: BIG) is projected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.08 on revenue of $1.1 billion.

PVH Corp (NYSE: PVH) reported a rise in its Q3 profit and revenue.

H&R Block Inc (NYSE: HRB) reported a wider Q2 loss.

Zumiez Inc (NASDAQ: ZUMZ) reported around 15% rise in its third-quarter net income.

Avago Technologies Ltd (NASDAQ: AVGO) reported upbeat fourth-quarter profit, but issued weak sales forecast for the first-quarter.

Asian markets ended mostly higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average surging 0.5394%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 1.36% and China's Shanghai Composite dropping 1.10%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.2007% and India's Sensex gained 2.20%.

European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index has gained 1.37%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 1.45%, German DAX 30 index rose 1.56% and France CAC 40 index gained 1.66%.

Nymex oil futures gained $0.36 to trade at $100.56 a barrel. Gold futures surged $13 to trade at $1,752.80.

The dollar index (DXY) dropped 0.1% to 78.202. The euro gained 0.1% against the greenback to trade at $1.3481.
