US Stock Futures Down; Jobless Claims Data In Focus
US stock futures are lower this morning, ahead of economic data. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 120 points to 11,345.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 11.30 points to 1,171.50. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 17.75 points to 2,196.50.
US stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipping 0.46% to 11,493.72, the S&P 500 index declining 0.41% to 1,188.04 and the Nasdaq 100 index dropping 0.07% to 2,521.28.
US Markets will be closed for Thanksgiving Day on Thursday.
Data on weekly jobless-claims, October personal-income and durable-goods orders will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Deere & Company (NYSE: DE) is projected to report its FQ4 EPS at $1.43 on revenue of $7.91 billion. Diana Shipping Inc (NYSE: DSX) is expected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.32 on revenue of $62.35 million.
Ship Finance International Limited (NYSE: SFL) is estimated to report its Q3 EPS at $0.43 on revenue of $87.50 million. NewJersey Resources Corporation (NYSE: NJR) is projected to report its Q4 EPS at $0.07 on revenue of $641.14 million.
TiVo Inc (NASDAQ: TIVO) reported lower-than-expected third-quarter loss.
Nuance Communications Inc (NASDAQ: NUAN) swung to a loss in its fiscal fourth quarter. Pandora Media Inc (NYSE: P) reported its FQ3 profit, excluding items, of $0.02 per share, on revenue of $75 million. However, analysts were expecting a loss of $0.01 per share on revenue of $71.4 million. Pandora projects a FQ4 loss between $0.02 and $0.04 per share, excluding one-time items, on revenue of $80 million to $84 million.
European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index declined 0.48%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.76%, French CAC 40 index fell 0.76% and German DAX 30 index dropped 0.91%.
The preliminary Markit composite purchasing managers index for the euro zone in November climbed to 47.2, versus 46.5 in October.
Asian markets ended lower, with Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 1.86% and China's Shanghai Composite declining 0.73%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 2.1212% and India's Sensex dipped 2.27%.
HSBC's preliminary China manufacturing survey dropped to a 32-month low in November.
The euro dipped 0.89% against the greenback to $1.3385, compared to $1.3513 in late North American action Tuesday. The dollar index (DXY) rose 0.77% to 78.83, versus 78.252 late Tuesday.
