US Stock Futures Signal Lower Start On Wall Street
US stock futures are lower this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 123 points to 11,774.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 19.70 points to 1,229.60. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 35.50 points to 2,320.50.
US stocks closed lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipping 2.26% to 11,955.01, the S&P 500 index dropping 2.47% to 1,253.30 and the Nasdaq 100 index declining 1.93% to 2,684.41.
Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc (NYSE: FDP) is expected to post its Q3 earnings at $0.27 per share on sales of $801.1 million. AM Castle & Co (NYSE: CAS) is expected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.21 on revenue of $283.65 million.
Pfizer Inc (NYSE: PFE) is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.55 per share on sales of $16.4 billion. Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ: SIRI) is projected to post its Q3 EPS at $0.01 per share on sales of $764.5 million. Williams Companies Inc (NYSE: WMB) is projected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.40 on revenue of $2.53 billion.
Thomson Reuters Corp (NYSE: TRI) is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.54 per share on revenue of $3.28 billion. Tenet Healthcare Corp (NYSE: THC) is estimated to post a breakeven per-share result on sales of $2.32 billion. HCA Holdings Inc (NYSE: HCA) is projected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.43 on sales of $7.98 billion.
Leap Wireless International Inc (NASDAQ: LEAP) reported a decline in customer cancellations during the third quarter. The rate of customer cancellations dropped to 3.8%, versus 5.5%, in the year-ago period.
Allstate Corp (NYSE: ALL) reported a 55% decline in its third-quarter net income. Excluding one-time items, Allstate's earnings came in at $0.16 per share. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.08 per share.
European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 2.6%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 2.39%, French CAC 40 index fell 3.07% and German DAX 30 index dipped 3.35%.
Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 1.6553%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 1.45% and China's Shanghai Composite rising 0.07%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 2.4914% and India's Sensex declined 1.3%.
The euro dipped 1.20% versus the US dollar to trade at $1.3693, down from $1.3908 in North American trade late Monday.
