US Stock Futures Up After EU Summit; Economic Data In Focus
US stock futures are higher this morning, after the euro area's leaders struck a deal to lower Greece's debt burden. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 188 points to 11,990.00 and futures on the S&P 500 stock index rose 22.70 points to 1,260.10. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 43 points to 2,369.50.
US stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones industrial average surging 1.39% to 11,869.04, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rising 1.05% to 1,242.00 and the NASDAQ composite index jumping 0.46% to 2,650.67.
Data on weekly jobless claims and an estimate of Q3 GDP will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. However, data on pending home sales will be released at 10 a.m. ET.
Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM) is expected to report its quarterly EPS at $2.13 on revenue of $113.56 billion. Altria Group Inc (NYSE: MO) is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.56 per share on revenue of $4.44 billion. Officemax Incorporated (NYSE: OMX) is projected to report its quarterly EPS at $0.23 on revenue of $1.80 billion.
Colgate-Palmolive Company (NYSE: CL) is projected to report its quarterly EPS at $1.30 on revenue of $4.36 billion. Motorola Solutions Inc (NYSE: MSI) is projected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.59 on revenue of $2.10 billion. Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) is estimated to report its quarterly earnings at $0.63 per share on revenue of $14.63 billion.
Goodrich Corporation (The) (NYSE: GR) is expected to report its Q3 EPS at $1.50 on revenue of $2.07 billion. The Hershey Company (NYSE: HSY) is estimated to report its latest quarter EPS at $0.84 on revenue of $1.62 billion. US Airways Group Inc (NYSE: LCC) is projected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.49 on revenue of $3.43 billion.
Visa Inc (NYSE: V) reported a 14% rise in its fiscal fourth-quarter profit. However, the company reported downbeat quarterly revenue
Symantec Corp (NASDAQ: SYMC) reported a 34% surge in its quarterly net income. The company issued disappointing revenue forecast.
Asian markets ended higher, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average surging 2.0354%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving up 2.40% and China's Shanghai Composite gaining 0.34%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 3.2631% and India's Sensex gained 0.20%.
European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index has gained 2.72%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved up 2.37%, German DAX 30 index rose 3.83% and France CAC 40 index jumped 4.01%.
