Canon's TX-20 Full Auto Tonometer Receives FDA Clearance
Canon U.S.A. announces its TX-20 Full Auto Tonometer has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 1 and is now commercially available for sale. Recently previewed at Vision Expo West, the TX-20 lightweight, non-contact tonometer makes a great addition to Canon's full line of eye care equipment, offering customers products and solutions to enhance their eye care practice.
Using soft air puffs, the TX-20 Tonometer easily measures Intraocular Pressure (IOP), which allows doctors to perform simple eye exams efficiently, while enhancing patient comfort. This test is important in evaluating ocular conditions that affect the pressure inside of an eye, such as glaucoma. If a high IOP is detected, a warning message is displayed. The operator can enter any threshold value on the unit's settings screen to activate the warning system for that value. When in Full Auto mode, the TX-20 Tonometer is a one-touch operation for IOP measurement of both eyes. With one press of the start button, the unit automatically aligns and measures the intraocular pressure of both eyes.
