Fortress Investment Group LLC (NYSE: FIG) has filed a shelf registration statement on Form S-3 with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Once declared effective by the SEC, this registration statement will replace Fortress's existing shelf registration statement, which was declared effective on October 3, 2008 and is set to expire in accordance with SEC rules.

The new registration statement will extend Fortress's ability under the old registration statement to offer and sell, from time to time, up to $1 billion of common shares, preferred shares and other specified securities. The terms of any offering by Fortress would be established at the time of the offering and would be described in a prospectus supplement relating to the prospectus included in the registration statement. Fortress has no present intention to offer or sell any such securities.
