Is There Going To Be A New Bid For The NYSE Or Not? (NDAQ, ICE, NYX)

What looked like a sure bet just a few weeks ago now has hit a snag.

As first reported by the Wall Street Journal and reported by Reuters, Nasdaq OMG Group NDAQ and the Intercontinental Exchange ICE may not be able to come to a deal to go after the NYSE Euronext NYX.

The two companies have not been able to smooth out the differences on the terms of the deal, and the recent uncertainty in the markets is affecting financing of the deal.

NYSE Euronext and Deutsche Borse agreed to merge a few weeks ago in a $9 billion merger, creating a mega-exchange that would cross both sides of the Atlantic.

The Nasdaq and the ICE have not agreed on how to share the risk in an offer, the Journal said.

A potential deal for the NYSE between the Nasdaq and the ICE could value NYSE Euronext between $10 billion and $13 billion.
