Q3 results may have missed analyst's expectations, the company is still very excited over the future sales of Gorilla Glass, according to a recent Reuters
article
. Analysts also said investors might also be buying Corning because they think the market for liquid crystal display glass has deteriorated to the point where it can only rise. Corning said it expected sales of scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass, a component in Samsung's GalaxyTab and Motorola's

Droid phone, to reach $100 million in the fourth quarter and $250 million for the full year. Corning's growth in recent years has been driven by the popularity of flat-screen TVs that contain LCD panels, and analysts said the company needs to show investors it can continue to expand with its other products. Ticonderoga Securities' Brian White said Gorilla Glass is a lower-margin product. "They only use a tiny amount in smartphones and tablets," White said. "They need to get it in TVs if it's going to be a nice growth driver." GLW is trading lower at $18.22
